Introduction:
QLC, a dynamic and growing R&D tax consultancy, is seeking a skilled and motivated Tax Accountant to join our team. This role consists of specialised tax accounting, catering to our diverse client base and informing the development of our proprietary tax software. We are looking for someone who is quick to learn, highly self-motivated, and ready to take ownership of their work. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong background in corporation tax, we want to hear from you.
If you are recently qualified but have an interest in technology and entrepreneurship, we would invest in you despite a lack of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Accounting for Clients:
- Provide expert tax advice and services, with a focus on R&D tax credits.
- Prepare and file corporation tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct tax planning and optimization strategies for clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and HMRC guidelines.
- Software development
- Help guide the development of unique financial tools
- Work with software team to ensure accuracy of tax processing software
- Internal finance
- From time to time, you may be asked to consult on company tax and finance matters.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Essential:
- ATT, or CTA qualification (multiple qualifications are advantageous).
- Strong experience in both management accounting and tax accounting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Preferred:
- Previous experience in R&D tax credits.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to non-financial stakeholders.

Full Stack Developer
Job Title: Full Stack Software Engineer

Salary: £35,000–£55,000 DOE

Role Overview:
As a Full Stack Software Engineer at QLC, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing and scaling the QLC Portal, ensuring it remains a cutting-edge solution for our clients. Working from our London office, you’ll collaborate with the product team to create seamless, intuitive user experiences while building robust backend systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other team members to design, develop, and deploy new features for the QLC Portal and internal software systems.
- Develop and maintain both frontend and backend components using modern frameworks and technologies.
- Optimise the portal for maximum speed, scalability, and usability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code that aligns with best practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Contribute to architectural decisions to ensure the platform remains secure, efficient, and scalable.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our systems and processes.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in full stack web development.
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field preferred, not required.
The Stack
Frontend Skills:
- Proficiency in React.js.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS
Backend Skills:
- Experience with Express.js (Node.js).
- Familiarity with the Next.js framework.
- Python programming knowledge.
- Experience with authentication frameworks like NextAuth.js.
- Familiarity with templating engines such as EJS.
Database Skills:
- Experience with MongoDB.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Experience with ORM tools like Prisma for efficient database interactions.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience building fintech platforms
- Experience building SaaS platforms or similar user-focused applications.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation
